When it opened in 1956 it was Central Florida's premiere resort hotel. The Langford Hotel was located in downtown Winter Park and was convenient to shopping, the golf course, fishing, the scenic boat tours and Rollins College. It was located where the Alfond Inn stands today. The Langford's design was very modern and unique for the time. It is interesting to note that at its annual convention in November of 1957 the Florida Association of Architects presented an Award of Merit to the Langford Hotel and to William B. Harvard, Jr., its architect.
